Recently, Border Security Force constable Tej Bahadur posted a video on social media that showed poor quality food given to soldiers. The next lot is expected in the next few weeks.. These guns allegedly inflicted severe eye injuries to protesters in the Valley last year.The commanding officers have been asked to check and taste the food before it is served to soldiers.New Delhi: The Centre has given a major push to equip the Army and central paramilitary forces with advanced weapons and equipment in anticipation of increased militant activity in Kashmir valley in summer.People familiar with the matter said this was a major initiative by the Centre in its fight against terror in the Valley, and the entire equipment will be delivered to security personnel before the onset of summer.Apart from better equipment, security forces, particularly paramilitary forces, have been told that their personnel should get the "best available quality" food.
The new weapons will also be given to forces deployed along the International Border and the Line of Control with Pakistan.They said the first consignment of lightweight bulletproof vests — which has been a longstanding demand of the security forces — and mine and bulletproof vehicles, lightweight rocket launchers (shoulder mounted), Tavor assault rifles and China OEM Labeling Machine Factory rapid-fire Glock 17 pistols have already reached the Valley.Intelligence agencies have hinted that militant activity may reach an all-time high this summer, people familiar with the matter said. Even last year the infiltration attempts were at an all-time high," the officer said.The Centre is still exploring possibilities of procuring non-lethal weapons for crowd control, although the paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force has already said it was planning to use a modified version of the pellet guns."Intelligence reports already suggest that militants are planning major offensive in the Valley. Mat-hews said.In a boost to telecom operators providing Internet protocol-based services such as 4G, the department of telecom (DoT) has allowed interconnection among such networks of service providers.Earlier networks were built using copper cables, called circuit switch, but modern networks are being built mostly using optical fiber..The amendment was required to enable interconnection among upco-ming networks which will be based on IP starting with 4G technology.The DoT has amended the Unified Access Service (UAS) licence agreement, inserting a provision for Internet protocol to allow interconnection of IP-based networks.
The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) said with the amendment telecom players cannot deny interconnection to other telecom operator having IP-based network. The DoT is in discussion with Ministry of Home Affairs to finalise these guidelines.. "After M2M (machine-to-machine) roadmap, guidelines for M2M specific Know Your Customers (KYC) have been prepared and will be released shortly," Telecom Secretary J S Deepak said at the India M2M and IoT forum here. Meanwhile, DoT will soon issue ‘Know Your Customers’ guidelines to ensure easy availability of mobile SIM cards to facilitate machine-to-machine communication in devices like CCTV cameras and ACs to be deployed mainly in smart cities. "We wish to inform that DoT has taken on record 800Mhz spectrum sharing in seven circles of the company and two circles of Reliance Telecom Ltd, wholly-owned subsi-diary with RJIL on 21st April 2016," RCom said in a regulatory filing.
